Environmental Technology » BA Gjenvinning AS
About Us Sales of recycled materials in the open market were not very successful initially, and the company recognized the need to seek out documentation on the use of such products in various fields. When a number of private companies and civic agencies joined forces in the RESIBA project in 1999, BA Gjenvinning was a leading participant. The aim of the three-year project was to define applications for recycled heavy construction and demolition (c&d) waste through detailed analysis of the properties of the materials in the laboratory and in the field. Today BA Gjenvinning operates the country's largest commercial recycling station for the collection, treatment and re-use of heavy demolition debris at Bondkall in the north of Oslo. The company also has receiving depots in Trondheim and Drammen. BA Gjenvinning also has a mobile division which carries out recycling on site for clients. It is often in connection with the larger demolition projects that the contractor chooses to reuse the processed materials on site, generally as the best way of minimizing environmental impact. BA Gjenvinning works actively with governmental authorities and organizations to promote the recycling of in keeping with legislation and industry standards. One main objective will always be to prevent illegal dumping and the consequent dispersal of environmentally damaging substances. Services Processed debris is sold as recycled gravel in the open market. These products are alternatives to gravel produced by stone crushing plants from virgin rock. Numerous field studies and research reports confirm satisfactory properties in many of the most common applications. BA Gjenvinning's mobile division operates throughout southern Norway. We can transform demolition debris into valuable reusable products with the help of the best and most up-to-date equipment. References Reference projects we can mention where recycled materials from BA Gjenvinning have been used in uncombined form include the E6 at the Svartdal tunnel in Oslo, the tramline and road at Gaustadbekkdalen, Oslo, and the Skullerud junction. As concrete aggregate (combined form) we have supplied gravel for concrete used in casting at Sørumsand school of further education, Telenor's car park at Fornebu and at Pilestredet Park in Oslo among others. Projects involving our mobile division in recent years have included crushing the concrete at Norway's trade fair building at Sjølyst (ca. 40,000 tonnes), concrete debris at the National Railway Museum at Hamar and Gamle Spigerverket in Nydalen, pulverizing asphalt flakes at the runways at Fornebu (ca. 120,000 tonnes), 20,000 tonnes of concrete debris at Tjuvholmen, Oslo, and crushing ca. 6,000 tonnes of concrete rail beams at Jönköping, Sweden.
