Sea-Hawk Navigation AS represents the high end of radar sensor technology. The company’s main products are radar sensors for application within Oil Detection, Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) and Navigation. The Sea-Hawk technology offers performance criteria’s which represents a quantum leap compared to standard commercial products within these markets segments both with respect to small – and high speed target detection and especially in rough weather conditions with high seas and heavy precipitation. These are the conditions is which high performance radar support is most needed and therefore the main performance criteria’s in Sea-Hawk products. Sea-Hawk products may also provide a wide range of combined services. It is commonly known and somehow accepted that a conventional navigation radar do not perform satisfactory when weather gets rough. It simply produces a so-called white screen. Ironically this is when the radar is most needed. Sea-Hawk Navigation AS has developed and tested a revolutionary radar technology with detection performance skills that to a large extent solves this problem. The radar sensor is believed to define a new standard within the radar industry – and within the navigation radar niche in particular. The sensor is a plug-and-play unit enabling integration with a range of the most common navigation radar/bridge systems and will therefore allow easy and cost effective installation/retrofit. The advantage with Sea-Hawk is that it’s detection performance is still outstanding when weather gets rough with high breaking seas and heavy precipitation. When other systems surrender due to weather conditions and produces so-called ‘white screen’, the Sea-Hawk will still produce a clear and reliable overview of all objects on sea surface within a navigation range even wider than a conventional system can produce in good weather conditions. The more advanced sensors are also encapsulated in a glass fibre radome with designs optimized for maximum microwave penetration. This also allows the radar system to operate as an EX-system in gas exposed areas. Sea-Hawk can also detect very small objects at high speeds and may therefore improve e.g. terror warning capabilities to a new level in which it may be relied upon as a real-time surveillance source for such purpose. |
